Blood Donation Camp to mark World Blood Donor Day organized jointly by DLF Foundation and SABIC in Blood donationassociation with BloodConnect. Ahead of World Blood Donor Day on June 14, a joint effort of DLF Foundation and SABIC in association of BloodConnect resulted in collection of over 1024 units of blood. Blood donation drive was organized for over 5 days covering the entire DLF Cyber City in which professionals especially the youth came out in large number to donate blood.  The camps were organized from June 8-12, 2015 at 9 different locations in cyber city.

The collected units of blood were provided to different hospitals of Delhi NCR like AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhya Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Lady Harding Memorial Hospital and Red Cross Society.

Sh. T.L Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon also graced the last day of the camp and donated blood.

According to World Health Organization estimates, India needs a minimum of 12 million units of blood to meet its basic requirement, with Delhi/NCR alone facing an annual shortage of 100,000 units of blood. Blood donations help meet only about 75 percent of the national requirement. DLF Foundation firmly believes in acting responsibly, encouraging and supporting healthy and resilient communities. The blood donation drive, which is a key community-focused initiative now in its third year, is held annually where employees and residents of Gurgaon donate blood to support and save lives.

Ritesh Sinha, Associate Director, DLF Foundation, said, “DLF Foundation is delighted to collaborate once again with SABIC to drive awareness about a critical public interest issue in India. We are proud to see professionals and residents of Gurgaon turning up in large numbers to support this event.”

“The increased number of surgeries conducted in super specialty hospitals has led to enhanced usage and demand for blood. Such blood donation camps should be organized at regular intervals to meet the rising demand. In case of an emergency it is always the blood that takes precedence.” said, Sh. T.L Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon

“I believe it is my duty to donate blood and save lives. The organizers brought collection facility at our doorstep which is a great motivation to draw people towards donating blood. I had donated blood in the same drive last year as well. ” Naina Arora, HR Executive, Randstand.

The ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is held every year on June 14 to raise awareness on the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary blood donation.
