  • Don’t Copy, Anti-Plagiarism tools will catch you: budding research scholars were told at a not so common Workshop on Thesis Writing

    Hyderabad: Don’t Copy, Paste someone’s work or idea.  Anti plagiarism tools will detect, experts told to budding research scholars in a first of its and rare half day workshop on Effective Thesis and Dessertation Writing Workshop organised here in the city Sunday afternoon by Prashas Research Consulting Pvt Ltd.

    UGC (University Grants Commission) guidelines say, similarities less than 10% are okay, if it is more than 40 and below 60, you will be asked to withdraw your script and not allowed to publish for next two years. If it is more than 60 percent, your script has to be withdrawn and you will be barred from publishing any work next three years informed Dr. S. Rajya Laxmi, who works in a Pharmacy college. She spoke on Plagiarism and how not become a victim of it.

    Plagiarism may not be a crime in India, unlike in many western countries, but it is an academic dishonesty and unethical she said

    She listed out ante plagiarism tools such as Copy Catch Gold, Edu Tie.com, Google, Jplag, Mossand Glatt Plagiarism program. Research Scholars can find out using these tools if they are plagiarizing any text, ideas unintentionally.

    Many experts Prof D K Lal Das, Dr G Ashirvadam Gidla, Dr S Rajya Laxmi and Dr Huma Fatima spoke about various issues pertaining to thesis and dessertation writing. The free workshop attended by over 67 participants.

    The thesis writer must know what the Thesis /Research/Dissertation is all about observed the speakers. He must keep his or her eyes open, read lot of journals to find a un answered question or a problem that is waiting to be solved. But, most of the time, this is ignored.

    The Dissertation/Thesis Writing Boot Camp is a program of Prashas Research that gave its participants a chance to make some serious progress on their dissertation.  It is a rare opportunity to students, researchers, teachers etc. The workshop provided the support and the solution to all kinds of difficulties they come across during their project work.
