    New Delhi : Addressing a joint press conference with External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna, Ms. Clinton said, that during her meeting with Krishna, She urged India to reduce its imports of Iranian Oil to compel Iran to meet the expectations of the international community on Tehran nuclear Program

    Mr. Krishna said, Iran is a key country for India’s energy needs and also has a stake in the region with 6 crore Indians living in the region. Krishna said India wants a peaceful and negotiated settlement of all issues related to the Tehran Nuclear Program. He said the issue is not a source of discord between India and United States and India. He also said, Oil refineries in India are exploring ways to reduce its oil imports by diversification.

    On the Civil nuclear cooperation between India and the United States, Mr. Krishna said, India has promised a level playing field for the Companies in the United States. He said negotiations in this regard are in progress with the Nuclear Power Cooperation of India.

    Mr. Krishna said he also conveyed to Ms. Clinton, India’s concerns on mobility of IT professionals and protectionist tendencies in the United States.
