  • Facebook launches “I’m a Voter” feature for Indian voters

    New Delhi: For the first time in India, people over 18 using Facebook on their mobile device will see a message at the top of their News Feed reminding them that voting has started in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In addition, by clicking a button that says “I’m a Voter” they will be able to post a story to their Facebook timeline sharing with friends that they are voting in this Facebook- I'm a voterelection. The Election Day message and “I’m a Voter” button will only be visible to voters in regions and constituencies on the day polling in their area is taking place. So go ahead, vote and then update your status by clicking on the “I’m a Voter” button.

    Earlier in late 2013, Facebook had launched another feature called Register to Vote which aimed at motivating more young voters to come out to vote in the coming 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The feature aims at attracting the 17 million first-time voters, who are in the age group of 18 or 19 years, to participate in the electoral process.

    To add this life event follow these steps:

    Step 1: Click “Life Event”

    Step 2: Select “Travel & Experiences” and “Registered to Vote”

    Step 3: Select the date in which you registered and add a photo if you wish. You can also share a story and select who can see this on your timeline.
