Speaking about the evening, H.E. Dr. Burak Akcapar said that “the evening has been curated to highlight Turkey’s profile as the hottest emerging tourist destination in India and emphasizes synergies between Turkish-Indian cultures through fashion.”

Dr. Sebnem Akcapar, wife of Dr. Akcapar, commented that they always wanted to host a fashion event in New Delhi which is full of people with a good sense of fashion. She added, “When Anu came with this great idea combining travel with fashion, we offered to host it since Turkey is a country with quality textiles and fashionable designs. She is especially inspired by Istanbul’s stylish neighborhoods by the Bosphorus for the street chic and crowded Grand Bazaar for the curious, the blue of the Mediterranean, as well as earthy tones of the Cappadocia. In this collection, she displayed the beauty and elegance so successfully.”

Anu PD’s collection stays true to the raison d’être of this fashion-season – signifies relaxation, affluence and appreciation of nature, therefore is unique in design and function. For her ‘Fashion n Travel Incubator’, Anu PD showcased a destination collection inspired by a magical blend of Turkey yesterday and today – a country on the move.

“Staying on the Road is more fun than arriving at the Destination” – ANU PD

Speaking on the occasion Anu PD said, “Fashion and travel are my two most enduring passions. Designing a resort collection allows me to indulge in both. Therefore these are the 2 elements I chose for this first of the incubator series to present Resort 2014. Turkey has been on my mind for a long time; it is this magical blend of ancient, ottoman and modern.  The four looks- “morning at the bazaar”; “day on a yacht”; “dusk on Riviera” and “Club” incorporate some trends for the season and are inspired by Turkey. This collection echoes the hedonistic mood of Resort.

About Anu PD’s Resort 2014 Collection:

Anu PD’s resort 2014 Collection, stays true to the raison d’etre of this fashion-season – signifying relaxation, affluence and appreciation of nature, therefore unique in design and function.

In her “Fashion and Travel Incubator”, being hosted by H.E. Ambassador Burak Akcapar and Madame Sebnem Akcapar, at the Ambassadorial residence, Anu PD shows a destination collection inspired by a magical blend of Turkey yesterday and today- a country on the move.

The Grand Bazaar and fashion houses of Istiklal Street and Nisantasi in Istanbul , the golden sands and backdrops of mountains at Antalya, the fairy chimneys and volcanic scenery of Cappadocia, and the Hookah Rooms and nightclubs by the Bosphorus, are the inspiration and all lend colour and soul to the garments.

Starting with a series of long, crinkled, worked-upon “morning-at-the-bazaar” looks , the designer indulges in mid-riffing with her next look, using short cowls and drapes for a “day-on-a-yacht” look.  The third look is an effortlessly styled one, evoking visions of dusk on the Riviera. The collection ends on an opulent note, with stylized Turkish Pants and Dramatic Gowns. Silks, Satins, Chiffons, Georgettes are used in this collection, juxtaposing solids and sheers, a resort trend one can’t afford to ignore this season.

As wisps of peek-a-boo lace, reverveberate through the collection, caressing the bodies, at strategic placements, they reveal a hint of skin and adding luxe to lustre. Mixing the lace trend with 3D fabric-embellishments adds a new level of glamour to the original oriental inspiration.

A new cool is touched upon with a smattering of coloured crystals. Ultramarine and Aquamarine Blues , Turquoise Green , Sunset Pinks and Dusk Oranges enchant and entice. Amid all the Mediterranean hues are some whites accentuated by metallics. This trend is shared by the accessories. Shoes and bags in the metallic cutwork look are designed to catch the light and the paparazzi camera flashes, as the woman takes to the party scene. As perfect travel and party companions, they echo the hedonistic mood of RESORT.

The mood is resort and this is a woman, who is a study in contrast- sugar and spice, naughty and nice- a True Turkish Delight.
