  • Mumbai  : Finding Happiness is a 96 minutes documentary based and inspired by the life of Paramhansa Yoganananda. The film begins with the Dow Jones meltdown which is apparently greater than the Great Depression of the 1930’s and panic has gripped the whole of the United States!

maxresdefaultIn the midst of all this chaos, Profiles Magazine editor Juliet Palmer is discussing her next big story for the mag, and wants to write on corporate greed. Her publisher and boss however, convinces her to go visit Nothern California for a spiritual sojourn to visit Ananda Villiage where Yogananda’s disciple Kriyananda has opened up a new community or communities rather which is cut off from city life.

Reluctant at first, she agrees to go and as she is driven by David from the Ananda Village, she seems mesmerised by the quaint silence and beauty of nature while on the way itslef.

Finding Happiness is more of an alternative method of living life to the fullest in harmony with nature and replete with any vices like greed etc.

On reaching the Ananda Village she compares everything with city life but soon seems to be taken over by the breathtaking beauty of nature and their natural habitat including solar energy, alternative healing methods and of course the practicising of yoga by all the inhabitants of the village.

Kriyananda born in 1926 bought 67 acres of land in 1967 and started building these communities.

Juliet interacts with various members of the community and interviews Kriyananda himself and takes his blessings before her week long stay at the village.

She goes back energised , truly understanding the semblence between music and its benefits on the consciousness and that there is joy within us as Kriyananda’s philosophy says.

Juliet’s boss is impressed with her on her return and says he would like to Ananda Village as well.

All the people shown in the village are real people from the Ananda Village.

Indeed, an alternative to the buzzing chaotic city life!
