  • Former IM Academy Sales Partner Receives Complete Acquittal in Swiss Lawsuit

    Published on April 4, 2022

The Higher Court of the Canton of Thurgau, Switzerland, ruled that Jennifer Gumbiller, a former sales representative with International Markets Live (IML), was acquitted on charges of participating in a “snowball” or “pyramid” scheme. The court also acquitted Gumbiller on charges of misleading others during her time at IML, an online financial education platform now operating as IM Academy and formerly as iMarketsLive.

The ruling was made in appeal proceedings and overturned a previous ruling in Gumbiller’s case.

The court’s ruling means the lawsuit, which was filed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Crimes and Organized Crime of the Canton of Thurgau, was unsuccessful in establishing criminal activity at IM Academy. In addition to acquitting Gumbiller of all charges, the court ruled the state should bear the costs of the legal proceedings. Gumbiller’s acquittal means that her prosecution cannot be used by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) or the public prosecutor in Switzerland to establish precedent or pursue any other cases against IM Academy.

    IM Academy’s Business Model

IM Academy has established itself as a leading educational platform, used by students around the world to gain knowledge of a variety of markets, including foreign exchange (forex), cryptocurrency, and e-commerce. Students have access to several different academies, strategies, and apps, along with opportunities for live mentorship from IM Academy educators. These features are available online through the IM Academy portal and the IM Academy app.

The goal at IM Academy is to establish an educational platform and community for students who are interested in gaining a well-rounded understanding of financial markets. To empower students with market knowledge, IM Academy offers four distinct academies: the FRX Academy for forex markets, the HFX Academy for high frequency markets, the DCX Academy for digital currencies, and the ECX Academy for e-commerce. Additionally, students who want more comprehensive access can choose the Elite Academy option, which provides access to the FRX Academy, HFX Academy, and DCX Academy.

Once students select the academy or academies they are interested in, they are provided with access to several online resources. Materials include PDFs, videos, and apps. IM Academy students progress through a series of these offerings in a system designed to build market knowledge as the student works through the material. Students also have access to IM Academy educators through GoLive sessions, live online sessions in which IM Academy students can ask questions and discuss market strategies.

Note: IM Academy is an educational forum for analyzing, learning, and discussing general and generic information related to markets and strategies. IM Academy does not provide personalized recommendations or views as to whether an investment approach is suited to the financial needs of a specific individual. Before deciding to participate in the forex or other markets, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk. Most importantly, do not invest money you cannot afford to lose. You should take independent financial advice from a professional in connection with, or independent of, research, and verify any information you find on the IM Academy website.
