  • Fortis Malar Hospital launches a unique initiative – SENIORSFIRST

    Chennai : Taking forward its commitment to uncompromised excellence in the field of healthcare with a key focus on patient care, Picture-1---SENIORSFIRST-LaFortis Malar Hospital today launched a unique initiative – SENIORSFIRST — for the benefit of the elderly population. This initiative was launched by Dr. Nithya Ramamurthy, Senior Consultant Gynaecologist & Obstetrician, Fortis Malar Hospital by presenting the first SENIORSFIRST Card to Kamatchi Patti. Dr. Jinadas, Senior Consultant General Physician, Fortis Malar Hospital, Dr. G Prabhakaran, Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist, Fortis Malar Hospital, Dr. Benny Benjamin, Consultant Paediatrician, Fortis Malar Hospital were also present on the occasion.

    SENIORSFIRST is a first-of-a-kind programme which gives a host of privileges to senior citizens who come to the hospital for treatment and allows them to get priority over others. Under this programme, senior citizens will be able to avail priority in admission to the hospital, get discounts on room rent, pathology, investigations and ambulance charges among others.

By launching this unique programme for the elderly population that visit our hospital, we reiterate our commitment to their well-being and make them feel privileged, we truly believe that caring for the elderly is not a specialty, but honestly our duty” said Mr. Raghunath P, Facility Director, Fortis Malar Hospital

    Some of the highlights of the programme are a Senior Citizens Advantage Card that offers attractive discounts on OPD consultations and investigations and a special helpline number dedicated to the elderly that gives them access to expert care at the hospital.

    Under this initiative, special services are being offering to the elderly. These include –

    • Reserved seats in OPD: Priority in seating ensures seniors no longer have to stand for long hours as they wait their turn in the outpatient department, to consult the doctor.

    • Fast-track billing and admission: A unique service under this programme, the fast track billing and admission ensures that senior citizens spend minimal time shuttling between desks and that they can get admitted within minutes. Settlement of bills is speeded up through a single-window system.

    • Hourly visits by staff: Be assured of vigilant care with hourly visits from the nursing supervisor and ward manager.

    Healthy diet: Healthy, wholesome food suited to special needs of the elderly will be provided.

    • Response to nurse call in 60 seconds: Senior citizens call will be attended by a nurse within a minute.

    • Drop-off services: The hospital is also introducing a unique service so that senior citizens can be dropped to their residence after surgery. This will be only on request.

    • Talks by doctors: Listen to our expert doctors as they address senior citizens’ meetings in the hospital, neighbourhood clubs and so on.
