Social activist Nafih Mohammed Naser urged the civil society groups to advocate for proper implementation of Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education, Act 2009 in a meeting attended by civil society groups and public spirited people of Bengaluru.

Nafih said “Section 12(1)(c) of the Act mandates non-minority private unaided schools to keep aside at least 25% of their entry-level seats for children belonging to disadvantaged sections to create a more integrated and inclusive schooling system. But its implementation experience has been far from satisfactory.”

“Many states and union territories have not implemented this provision. Further, experiences of the states that implement this provision display considerable gaps.”

The attendees passed a resolution in favor of the demands made by Nafih Mohammed Naser and decided to come up with a blue print of advocacy work demanding the proper implementation of the said Act.

The vote of thanks was delivered by human rights activist Ramvilas Reddy.
