  • Free Resume Builder to ascertain employability factor of candidates

    Published on January 7, 2012

Hyderabad: RV-VLSI Design Centre, a Bangalore-based finishing school for engineering students and working professionals, managed by industry experts, has announced the launch of an innovative initiative – Resume Builder – a free and sophisticated tool to assist candidates in ascertaining their employability factor and managing job prospects in the high-paying VLSI/Embedded Systems domain.

The tool is designed with inputs from senior executives of the VLSI industry, which in turn enables students to align to the industry expectations while building the resume. The tool does anin-depth analysis of candidates’ qualifications and capabilities, job potential, shortcomings, unique skills, and suggests improvement plans to fill the missing gaps in their academics and enhance the employability. This is for the first time that a high-end educational institute has launched such an initiative in India.

“The employment opportunities in the VLSI/Embedded Systems domain are enormous. However, students are losing opportunities because they do not have the relevant experience; or their resumes do not reflect their capabilities and achievements properly in order to draw the attention of the industry among the tens of thousands of resumes. Consequently, the possibility of a candidate receiving an interview call is greatly reduced. We help the candidates identify the gaps and suggest corrective action” says Mr. Venkatesh Prasad, CEO, RV-VLSI.

It is imperative for candidates to enhance their employability by acquiring various skill sets. Even NASSCOM, the premier body of the Indian IT industry, has often expressed concern over the declining employability factor among fresh graduates. Of the general pool of graduates across all streams only 25 per cent have employable skills; in case of tech graduates, only 35-40 per cent is readily employable, according to NASSCOM. The corresponding figure for the VLSI/Embedded Systems design domain is less than 10 per cent, a serious cause for concern.

“Finding employees passionate about their work from several thousand fresh engineers graduating every year, and getting them industry-ready, is a challenging task. Initiatives like these from educational institutes will go a long way in creating a much needed eco-system required for the Semiconductor/Electronic System Design and Manufacturing Industry to thrive,” says Manjunatha Hebbar, Vice-president & Head-Strategic Services (ERS), HCL Technologies Ltd.

Any BE/MTech graduate or working professional aspiring for a career in the VLSI/Embedded Systems has to build resume using the link http://nanochipsolutions.com/job_seeker_login.php

It takes about 20 minutes for the candidate to build the resume. Using in-built heuristics, the tool ascertains the candidate’s employability factor. RV-VLSI will then share the results and a suitable corrective action if applicable to the candidate.

This initiative will help the semiconductor industry gain access to well-trained and qualified engineers, thereby significantly reducing the costs of recruiting fresh talent. RV-VLSI aims to create an industry-ready and trained talent pool for the VLSI/Embedded Systems domain through this initiative.

In addition, RV-VLSI is creating a platform to connect job seekers and providers. Resumes posted through the RV-VLSI website will be made visible to product development companies operating in the space of VLSI/Embedded Systems design.

There are more than 120 companies operating in the VLSI/Embedded Systems design in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Noida. They are facing problems in sourcing and profiling the right candidate. Switching to core jobs in product companies from IT services is not a difficult task because there are several top finishing schools, such as RV-VLSI, which provide paradigm shift to candidates.
