  • From Blueprint to Bliss: The Journey of Precision AC System Installation

    Published on September 25, 2023

Installing an air conditioning system is a meticulous process that considers various aspects to improve performance, efficiency, and durability. According to

Active Plumbing & Air Conditioning, several key aspects in the AC installation process play an important role in optimal performance and functionality. Here is a quick overview of the journey from blueprint to bliss during the installation of an AC system.

    Assessment and Planning

The first stage in the installation of an AC system is thoroughly assessing your cooling requirements and the specific needs associated with your space.

HVAC professionals will evaluate factors such as heat load, room size, insulation, and even environmental conditions to determine the appropriate capacity and configuration of the AC system. Once these factors are established, they will also consider any specific requirements or constraints that are unique to your space and implement the needed modifications.

    Design and Blueprint

Based on the assessment, a detailed design and a blueprint will be created for the installation process. Here, you can expect to see the positioning of indoor and outdoor units, ductwork layout in situations where it is applicable, electrical requirements, and other necessary modifications to the existing infrastructure.

This blueprint will serve as the installation team’s primary guide, ensuring that all the aspects of your project are properly coordinated.

    Equipment Selection

When the HVAC team finishes the design, they will select the appropriate AC equipment that aligns with the specifications and requirements outlined in the blueprint. Equipment selection involves using and selecting the right type and capacity of indoor units, outdoor units, ventilation systems, and additional components if necessary.

    Pre-installation Preparation

Various preparations are made before the installation begins to ensure a smooth and efficient process. This may involve clearing the installation area, obtaining the necessary permits or approvals, and protecting surrounding surfaces.

The HVAC team must also secure and deliver all the necessary equipment and tools for the installation process to the worksite. Materials must always be available for the installation process.

Installation of Indoor and Outdoor Units, Ductwork and Ventilation

The first step in AC system installation is the installment of the indoor and outdoor units. Here, the refrigerant lines will be connected, along with the electrical wiring, and drainage systems. All the connections must integrate with the indoor units.

If ductwork is required, this will be the next step. Ductwork will be laid out and installed according to the blueprint to ensure proper airflow and distribution throughout the space. The ventilation systems are also installed at this stage.

    Electrical Connections and Calibration

The installation team is responsible for electrical connections. They must ensure that all electrical wiring, circuit breakers, and connections comply with electrical codes and manufacturer specifications.

Once the installation is done, the AC system will undergo various tests and calibration. For example, controls, sensors, and thermostats will have their system controls checked. Airflow and temperature distribution will be checked, along with refrigerant levels.

Once testing and calibration are completed, the installation will undergo a final inspection to ensure everything complies with building codes and industry standards.
