  • Fujitsu Significantly Expands Its 1FINITY Series of Optical Transmission System Equipment

    Published on March 23, 2016

TOKYO : Fujitsu today announced that it has expanded the FUJITSU Network 1FINITY platform, its next-generation optical transmission system that uses a disaggregated architecture(1), to the four functionalities needed when building an optical transmission network, namely, transport, lambda, switch, and access. Each of these is offered as an individual blade(2). Sales will start between April and June 2016 in North America, followed by a phased worldwide rollout.

Using the 1FINITY platform, customers building a network can hold down upfront investment costs and expand incrementally in line with demand. The Transport family, for transport functionality, offers the T200 blade equipped with the latest coherent digital signal processing (DSP) circuit(3). It achieves world-class optical transmissions at ultra-fast speeds (up to 400 Gbps) over super-long distances (over 10,000 km).

Fujitsu will offer the 1FINITY platform globally to a wide variety of customers, including datacenter operators and telecom carriers, thereby contributing to the expansion of more complete network infrastructure to keep pace with expected increases in data traffic caused by the spread of the Internet-of-Things and the increase in video and other imaging data.
