  • New Delhi:: Goibibo.com, India’s leading OTA launches its IOS App. This launch comes at a time wherein Goibibo has witnessed more than half a million downloads of its Android App backed with encouraging reviews. The Android app already occupies one of the top slots in the “Travel & splashLocal” category in the Android Marketplace.

The IOS app has currently been rolled out for the Domestic and International air categories. Says Vikalp Sahni, CTO of Goibibo:  “Just like the Android app, we will be expanding the same to Bus and Hotels vertical shortly”.

The core features of the IOS app are:

    1.       The app is fast and extremely easy to use for even return trips. No clutter.

    Search step

This is the screen to initiate flight search. Goibibo has given emphasis to the most important details like Source / Destination / Departure time.  Travellers can search between domestic cities as well as international destinations.

There is a little slider, besides Traveller’s selection & class selection, which unveils other options.

Search results – signifying the ease of choosing Destination and return in one go

The biggest challenge here was to enable travellers to seamlessly choose destination and return in an easy manner. Say Vikalp Sahni “A lot of brainstorming has gone into creating this piece. For any OTA the search results page is where users spend most of the time. Checking and comparing prices.

The most important thing we have taken care of is to make sure that we give all the detailed information so that one can easily make a decision. Users can toggle between To and return screens seamlessly. Also we have built out visual elements like Bars signifying duration of flights, small red patch displaying condition of cancellation and hops. The idea was to use textual and visual elements in harmony to give all the details but making sure that we do not overload information and make everything visible.

Furthermore the emphasis has been given to have more touch and smart phone friendly gestures. Seamless movement from onward and return flights is felicitated by a swipe gesture, this will give users ability to pick, choose and compare multiple combinations within the same page. Touch tabs being used to toggle between review and selection etc.

    2.       Users can choose the -/+3 day option that gives them the best fare available.

    Graph feature

“This has been asked for in our Android app by a lot of users, hence it was part of our initial launch on iOS. A very handy feature for travellers looking for flexibility of fares and dates”

Upfront it gives details in a nice visual display of minimum fares available across a few days. And an intuitive swipe feature lets users to move back and forward into next set of dates.

Selecting a particular graph will do a search and lets you book the cheapest flights for that day.

Easy check out with card store feature powered by PayU

App enables users to store credit card information on a highly secured vault which can seamlessly be used for multiple transactions. And across all our offerings. Which means stored card on web can be used on android and ios everywhere. This makes mobile transactions much friendlier.

“We are excited to see increasingly high number of mobile users using this feature, to save hassle of entering redundant credit card information again”

    My booking page

With this launch Goibibo has ensured that it enables travellers to see and review already booked itineraries on mobile devices. This can be checked out by logging in using Goibibo account or linked Facebook Account.

Furthermore, for all guest users, the application save’s itinerary within the mybookings section, irrespective whether a user is logged in or not.

Says Ashish Kashyap, Group CEO, ibiboGroup “We are extremely focussed towards mobile development across our businesses.  For Goibibo business, we are already witnessing 10% of our transactions via Android and HTML 5 APPS. I am confident that within 24 months mobile transactions will surpass desktop/PC/Laptop.
