The Government has called upon the agrochemicals industry to invest in Research and Development and innovations in the sector. Delivering the inaugural address at a National Conference in New Delhi today, Mr. Indrajit Pal, Secretary, Department of Fertilizers said that while the industry has developed substantially in India, more and more focus needs to be put on the Research and Developlment to make it competitive. Mr.Pal said that one of the emerging areas for R and D is eco-friendly green agrochemicals and pesticides.

The two day conference is organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, (FICCI) in association with Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Department of Fertilizers and Ministry of Agriculture.

The conference will cover various topics of relevance with participation from the industry, Government and farmers. A knowledge paper on the sector was also released at the conference.
