  • Haj pilgrimage moving on peacefully

    Published on October 25, 2012

In Saudi Arabia, the Haj pilgrimage is moving on peacefully with more than two million Muslims from all over the world converging at Mount Arafat; the place where prophet Mohamed had given his last sermon. More than 1.25 lakh Indian pilgrims are taking part in the Haj this year.

After the sermon by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and afternoon prayers at Grand Namira Mosque in Arafat, pilgrims are moving to Mujdalifa to spend night under the open skies.

From here they return to Mina on Friday morning where they will throw stones at the three pillars in a symbolic renunciation of the devil. Saudi Arab Government has increased the number of level of bridges to avoid overcrowding at the stoning site. Fireproof tents have been arranged for the faithful and elaborate security arrangements have been put in place.

The multipurpose teams set up by the Indian Haj Mission are taking care of the welfare of the Indian pilgrims to ensure the performing of Haj rituals in safe and orderly manner.
