  • Hong Kong : Three major trade fairs will take place this month, including the 33rd HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), the largest show of its kind in the world, the 17th electronicAsia and the 15th HKTDC Hong Kong Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the world’s second-largest lighting show.

    The two electronics fairs open 13 October and continue through 16 October, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will be held 27-30 October, at the HKCEC.

    New European Participation

    More than 4,000 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions will take part in the two electronics shows. The Electronics Fair alone expects some 3,400 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions. These include newcomers from Denmark, Portugal and Sweden, together with pavilions representing the Chinese mainland, and its Fujian and Jiangmen provinces, along with Korea and Taiwan.

    Debut of i-World

    Fair highlights include such new product zones as i-World and Smart Home. The show’s Small-Order Zone will feature some 3,000 products, while the Invention Zone will present prototypes and new products.

    The Hong Kong Electronic Industry Summit, 15 October, will spotlight acoustic product design and development, while the 14 October Buyer Forum examines emerging market opportunities. Seminars will focus on credit risk management in emerging markets, using Hong Kong to tap into the growing electronics markets of the Chinese mainland, and regulatory updates on electronics and electrical products.

    Chinese Participation

    Nearly 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions will be on hand for the electronicAsia, among them group pavilions from the mainland, Japan, Korea and Thailand. The fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia Pte Ltd.

    World of Solar

    Highlights of electronicAsia include the Key Components for Smart Devices zone, along with the World of Solar and the World of Display Technology.

    World of Solar will offer a wide range of components, products and services in solar energy and photovoltaic technology. SISVEL, Truly Semiconductors and You-Eal Corporation are among the nearly 40 major international companies confirmed for the World of Display Technology zone. The World of Display Conference will be held on 15 October.

    Lighting Business

     

    Nearly 2,350 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions, a new exhibitor record, will take part in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition). They include newcomers from Denmark, Israel, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

    Premium Brands

    The Hall of Aurora will focus on the high end of the lighting market, offering more than 470 brands from 320 exhibitors, including Citizen, CREE, Fulham, Fumagalli, MEGAMAN, Neo-Neon, Panasonic, Philips and Vossloh-Schwabe. Some 810 exhibitors will display LED, energy-saving and other environmentally friendly products at the LED & Green Lighting zone. They will include commercial lighting and residential lighting and lighting for retail and architectural use, both indoor and outdoor.

    Other dedicated areas will include Advertising Lighting, Smart Lighting & Solutions and the Small-Order Zone.

    Favourite Products

    The “My Favourite Lighting Products 2013” Award Presentation Ceremony takes place 27 October, with the winning pieces to be showcased in the Hall 1A concourse throughout the fair period.

    A range of seminars will also be held, spotlighting such topical issues as LED lighting regulations and standards, e-tailing strategies for lighting products, design trends, and testing and certification services in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Solid State Lighting Industry Conference is slated for 30 October.
