  • Honda Cars India Limited bets big with new launches planned in 2014-15

    Riding on the success of Amaze and 4th generation Honda City, Honda Cars India Limited, leading manufacturer of premium cars in country received a phenomenal Hondaresponse from the customers in the FY 2013-14. The company also posted its highest ever annual sales of 1,34,339 units during FY 2013 – 14 recording 83% growth over previous year.

    The last financial yearproved to be the year full of opportunities and expansion for Honda Cars India Limited.In the month of Apr’13, company forayed into the diesel segment in the Indian car market by launching the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine. The launch of the Amaze marked Honda’s entry into the diesel segment in the Indian market. The car has received an overwhelming success ever since its launch in April last year selling more than 90,000 units across the country since its launch.

    During Jan’14, the company launched the all-new 4thGeneration Honda City in the Indian market. The all-new City, developed as a global sedan, embodies the best of Honda’s technologies to deliver Advanced Sporty Design, Best Comfort and Best Fuel Efficiency which exceeds customer’s expectations. Available in both Diesel and Petrol fuel options, the company has sold more than 40,000 units since its launch and continues to dominate the sales in its segment.

    HCIL started the production of cars from its Tapukara Plant in Feb’14. Honda Amaze is the first car to roll out from the new plant. With a cumulative investment of Rs. 3526 crores, Tapukara plant currently employs about 3200 associates.

    Going forward in this financial year, HCIL is all set to enter a new segment of Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPVs) with the launch of its midsize stylish 7 seater MPV- the Honda Mobilio. Honda has a strong legacy of MPVs globally with successful products like Odyssey, Freed, and Stepwagon. All these cars have perfect balance between a Utility and Passenger Vehicle and are progressive in styling. The company has put together all the know-how of Honda related to MPVs in developing the Mobilio. The company unveiled the Honda Mobilio at the 12th Auto Expo during Feb’14and got very good response for the car.

    Honda Mobilio will evolve the MPV segment in India by offering space, comfort and utility in just the right size for the Modern Real Indian family.This car is principally intended for customers who are seeking a stylish and spacious MPV for their personal use. Honda expects that Mobilio will appeal not only to MPV segment customers with larger families but also to families which have traditionally opted for a sedan or an SUV but have a functional requirement of a 7 seater. Honda will launch the Mobilio in July 2014 in both Petrol and Diesel variants.

With both manufacturing plants in operation, as well as two new models, the mid-sized stylish MPV, Honda Mobilio and the all-new Honda Jazz due for launch this financial year, we look forward to another year of growth.Currently, we are excited about entering into the MPV segment with the upcoming launch of our mid-size stylish 7 seater – the Honda Mobilio. We will increase our dealer network by 35% in this year by reaching out to more tier 2 & tier 3 markets which will be instrumental for our growth. The company currently has 172 facilities in 109 cities in its network and this will increase to 230 facilities in 150 cities.”
