  • How to Watch Zhilei Zhang vs Joe Joyce 2: When & Where to Watch

    Published on September 23, 2023

Joe Joyce will be looking to avenge the lone loss of his career against Zhilei Zhang as two square off in a 12-round heavyweight rematch at OVO Wembley Arena, London.

It is a rematch from their fight in April, where Big Bang won and became the first person to beat Joyce and claimed the latter’s WBO interim heavyweight title in the process, and that title is again on the line. It would also be a cracking contest, given their fighting styles and power.

While Hgrovic would face unified champion Oleksandr Usyk as his IBF mandatory, a win would make Joyce a potential candidate for the heavyweight world title as the winner could potentially set up a mouthwatering clash with Oleksandr Usyk.

    Zhilei Zhang:

6’6 Zhang (25-1-1, 20 KOs)’s nickname is ‘Big Bang,’ rightly so. He won an Olympic silver medal for his country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Zhang turned pro in 2014 and scored a 24-0-1 before a disputed loss to Filip Hrgovic last August.

In April this year, he bounced back by securing a win against Joyce, where his showering powerful lefts forced the ringside doctor to end the fight in round six and the referee to call the fight in favor of the Chinese.

    Joe Joyce II:

2016 Olympic silver medalist Joyce (15-1, 14 KOs) turned pro in October 2017 and won the Commonwealth title in his fourth fight. Last year, he knocked out former world champion Joseph Parker and claimed the interim WBO belt.

Before he suffered defeat against Zhang this year, he was on a five-fight knockout streak against big names like Carlos Takam, Daniel Dubois, and Joseph Parker. He was ready to become a full-time champion and in line to face the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, but ‘Big Bang’ had other plans.

Months later, ‘Juggernaut’ is ready for a rematch on his home turf, a match where anything other than a victory would leave Joyce well out of the world title picture, and the win would make him a potential opponent for WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.

    What Has Been Said?

“It’s hard when you have a loss and you have to rebuild, and it has been tough. But, I believe I can go back in there again and get it back and I’m hungry to get the title and my mandatory position back.” Joy Joyce said.

“I don’t know if I’m excited but it’s something I have to do, it’s my job and I need to get back to work. I’ve worked very hard to get where I am and financially I’m in a good place, but I still want to keep up with this fight game.

“The journey isn’t over yet, it’s just a pitfall that I need to get past and I want to be heavyweight champion of the world. I took a risk too far, but that exposed some things that I need to work on to be a better boxer.” He further added.
