  • San Diego, CA : Ignite Visibility, an award winning Internet marketing company, has transferred their website from a non-secure to a secure domain. Although it is known that a switch from http to https can have short term setbacks for SEO, Ignite Visibility felt it was well worth the risk.

“Google is now giving a ranking boost to secure or https websites,” said John Lincoln, President of Ignite Visibility. “There is also speculation that chrome 42 will start showing a warning for non-secure websites. Beyond that, secure websites offer encryption, data security and authentication, all of which provides security and comfort to the website user.”

Google agrees with John’s points, stating the following reasons to switch to a secure site.

Encryption—encrypting the exchanged data to keep it secure from eavesdroppers. That means that while the user is browsing a website, nobody can “listen” to their conversations, track their activities across multiple pages, or steal their information.

Data integrity—data cannot be modified or corrupted during transfer, intentionally or otherwise, without being detected.

Authentication—proves that your users communicate with the intended website. It protects against man-in-the-middle attacks and builds user trust, which translates into other business benefits.
