  • IIJT partners with Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement Employment Generation and Marketing Mission

    Tirupati : Indian Institute of Job Training [IIJT] is one of India’s largest and leading vocational training providers partners with Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement Employment Generation and Marketing Mission in Tirupati today.

    The project was inaugurated by Mr B. Anil Kumar Reddy, Project Director (IKP), DRDA, Chittoor. IIJT will be the training and placement partner for AP Government in implementing Employment Generation and Marketing Mission (EGMM) across 14 locations in the State.

    EGMM is a society set up by the Department of Rural Development of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government to provide employment to the rural unemployed youth.

    IIJT in association with EGMM will train and place 6000 youth by March 2012. EGMM issues work orders every quarter. A total of 1440 students will be trained & placed till September 2011. Under the scheme IIJT will offer free training to youth from Rangareddy, Mahaboobnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal, Vizag, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari, Krishna, West Godavari–Eluru, Guntur, Prakasam–Ongole, Chittoor and Khammam. The training will be provided free of cost along with free accommodation as well.

    Inaugurating the project, Mr. B. Anil Kumar Reddy, Project Director (IKP), DRDA, Chittoor said “Government of AP is committed to make the EGMM project a great success. The society was set up five years ago; EGMM has emerged as one of the largest Jobs mission working for the underprivileged youth. We have an aim of training rural and underprivileged youth in a public-private partnership mode with Government, companies and the rural communities as its stakeholders. The project is based on a bottom-up approach, tailored to move the rural poor from the unorganized to the organized labor market.”

    Speaking at the event, Neeti Sharma- Head Institutional IIJT Education said “this is a project that will help the youth of the region to get free training and placement assistance. This is one of IIJTs initiatives in fulfilling a larger objective of improving employability in India.”

    Till date, 2,26,909 candidates have been trained under EGMM project with placement of 75 percent  of candidates in entry level corporate jobs. Among these, over 45% are girls and 37% are from the SCs/ STs. The youth are majorly from economically and socially underprivileged sections of the society.
