  • IMT Ghaziabad welcomes new PGDM- Part Time batch

    Ghaziabad:- Continuing the legacy of nurturing world-class business leaders and imparting quality management Dr-Rishi-lighting-the-candleducation, IMT Ghaziabad – India’s premiere B-School today hosted the welcome ceremony of new batch of PGDM- Part Time for the academic session 2015-18. The  new  students  were  welcomed  at the IMT Ghaziabad campus  in  presence  of  all  the current students, faculty and staff members. The two-day rigorous orientation ceremony introduced students to the institute’s philosophy, curriculum, relevance of the program, pedagogy and helped to gear themselves for the program.

    Dr Bikramjit Rishi, Program Chairperson and Dr. Surinder Batra senior faculty IMT Ghaziabad addressed the ceremony. In his welcome speech, Dr Bikramjit Rishi said, “With all the economies of the world are shrinking to form one global economy, the organizations are looking for management professionals who can understand the challenges posed by changing business environment. IMT Ghaziabad understands this challenge and has designed the program architecture in a way so that the necessary skills, values and aptitude can be imparted to the students and they can use the same to take their organizations at the higher level.”

    Dr. Surinder Batra in his welcome speech highlighted the institutional philosophy of leadership, innovation, values and excellence. He emphasized the role of punctuality, hard work and humility in the learning. He also pointed out one has to be beyond self-centric and should focus on larger societal problems. After the completion of welcome sessions, the new students introduced themselves to each other and the first day was concluded with a get-together dinner.

    Addressing the session, Sumit Bhasin, Chief Manager, Human Resources, Beverly Food & Beverages Ltd and IMT Alumni shared his insights on the importance of attending all classes diligently and told how the new batch is lucky to have their classes on the weekend, as he had classes on the weekdays as well. He also acknowledged the fact that MBA is tougher for the part time students as they have to maintain a work-college life balance. However, he said that having a vast industry experience, they have an edge, as they are able to apply the concepts of an MBA more effectively. Concluding the session, he highlighted that the attrition rate of student in the part time program has been high, so students must always be determined, motivated and focused on their goals.

    The second day of the orientation program was started with Dr Rishi’s elaborative session on Evaluation and Pedagogy for PGDM Part Time in Alignment with AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). He shared the process of evaluation of the program and practices followed at IMT Ghaziabad to evaluate the PGDM Part Time students.

    Preceding further, the PGDM part time students had a session with Mr Sachin Jain, GM Business Development, Alcatel Lucent India Ltd, also an IMT Ghaziabad Part Time PGDM alumni. He highlighted the challenges the students might face during the time of their part-time course. He addressed the challenges including managing the hectic work life along with the strenuous student life, grasping the maximum from the course and importantly unlearning all, which they have learned in their work life. He also discussed how studying management changes you as an individual, transforming you into an individual who looks at a problem from different angles and provides multiple solutions for the same.
