  • India, Russia working for world peace: PM Modi

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India and Russia have unmatchable relationships and expressed hope that it will expand further. In his press statement, Prime minister said Russia has been with India in its journey of development.

    Mr Modi mentioned about the informal summit in Sochi and said after Putin’s this visit the relationship will go a long way. Prime minister said both the countries are working for world peace.

    Russian President in his statement said he discussed several important regional and global issues of bilateral cooperation with the Prime minister. Mr Putin said Russia is committed to provide energy to India and in June this year first batch of LNG shipment was sent to India and also invited Indian energy companies to expand their operations in Russia.

    Saying Russia and India have great strategic partnership, Mr Putin said both the countries have taken interests in each others culture. He said India is a popular tourist destination for Russians. Earlier, Prime minister and Russian President Vladimir Putin held delegation level talks.

    After the talks, the two countries signed eight  agreements on trade, railways, nuclear field and MSME sector. Later, in the day, the two sides will hold the 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit. Bilateral ties including defence cooperation will be reviewed during it.

    Mr. Putin will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The visiting dignitary will also interact with a group of talented children. Mr. Putin arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a two-day visit to India.
