  • Indian cos highlight at Jaffna trade fair

    The second Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF) with a strong presence of Indian business houses was inaugurated by the Indian High Commissioner to Srilanka Ashok K Kantha.

    This is the second consecutive year when India has partnered the event along with the host country. More than 45 Indian companies are participating under banner of National Small Industrial Corporation (NSIC) and State of Kerala.

    The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) have also sent business delegations.

    Indian companies are showcasing various machinery, equipments and products for agro-based industries, food processing industries and equipments for SME sectors.

    In another development, India handed over medical equipments to Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

    Under this project, modern equipment for the Intensive Care Unit, Eye Ward, and Operation Theater were supplied under Government of India grant assistance. The total cost of the project is 112 million Sri Lankan Rupees.
