  • Ever heard of the Big Fat Indian Wedding? Well, here’s the very first big wide (angle) Indian wedding made possible by the stylish and powerful Lumia 730 umiathat features a high definition wide angle front camera to capture the big Indian families in one frame.

Wedding celebrations have always been counted as the most precious and special moments of one’s life and wedding photography has come a long way from becoming a tick mark in the wedding preparations to becoming an art and a specialization in itself. And the evolution has been shaped by the adventurous spirit of today’s couples who are looking for unscripted moments of their lives captured, so that their wedding memories can be cherished in newer and more ways over the years.

Add to it the latest trend of taking and sharing Selfies and you are in for a whole new experience. Marrying the zeal of today’s modern couples with the latest social media phenomenon of Selfies, Tonk who works under the brand name, Think Tonk came up with yet another trending concept #SelfieShaadi. Going along the selfie trend and seeing couples taking selifes Tonk have been trying various phones to execute his idea and  because it was necessary for him to use the one with best features. So after a lot of searching Tonk found Lumia 730 which had a wider screen and 5 Megapixel front camera. Tonk than approached Microsoft Devices with his flattering idea to which they instantly agreed  and later the whole concept of the contest and #SelfieShaadi came up.  Tonk is a candid photographer who has been instrumental in bringing about a change in the wedding photography scene in India. A self-taught photographer, Tonk has been pursuing photography full time for four years now and has covered over 200 weddings. He has an eye for catching the minute details at a wedding that would normally go unnoticed but would add magic to any wedding. Wild, quirky, off beat, candid, colorful – the flavor of his work is an amalgamation of all this and more.

According to Vijay Tonk, “I have always looked forward to experimenting and trying something new with wedding photography. Capturing an entire wedding through selfies was an idea that I had been contemplating for sometime considering the trend for Selfies but couldn’t find the right equipment to do justice to the ambitious idea. Fortunately, the Lumia 730 had all the features packed into one device that could turn my dream project into reality. Shooting with the Lumia 730 was a completely different experience. It was interesting to direct shots and get the couple and their families to take those selfies. It was a challenge to get the right shot but at the same time fun as everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves and having a gala time.”

Think Tonk and Microsoft scripted the #SelfieShaadi concept, the first ever selfie wedding in India. #SelfieShaadi was conceptualized as an online contest that invited entries by soon-to-be-married couples to win a chance to play the protagonists in India’s 1st ever Selfie wedding. The competition was won by the NCR-based couple Ankit and Prachi. Ankit Agarwal, employed at Landmark Group in United Arab Emirates, and his wife Prachi, a Fashion Designer, who tied the nuptial knot recently are excited about starring in the country’s first-of-its-kind #SelfieShaadi and are sharing their experience with their friends and family members on social media platforms.

“It was really exciting and adventurous for both of us. Two days before our wedding we got this lovely surprise from Microsoft that we were the chosen couple for #SelfieShaadi. Truly, it was the best gift that we could have ever got on our big day,” exclaimed the couple.

Raghuvesh Sarup, Director – Marketing, Nokia India Sales Pvt. Ltd., (A subsidiary of Microsoft Mobiles Oy), said, “Selfies have captured everyone’s imagination and the youth today is going all out clicking selfies. We decided to extend this trend to weddings and conceptualized the first ever selfie wedding in India. #Selfieshaadi, the first of its kind initiative gave ‘to be wed couples’ a new and an innovative way to document their wedding, capturing the best frames and angles to showcase the wedding frenzy and moments of their special day through selfies. To capture #selfieshaadi, the first ever selfie wedding in India we brought on board the popular candid photography team Think Tonk to conceptualise and direct the shoot which was completely captured using the wide-angle 5MP front-facing camera of the Lumia 730  and edited  as well. The results have been great and we are excited to share this concept with our consumers.”
