    Published on January 21, 2015

Anand LuniaNew Delhi: – IndiaQuotient, a leading investor in early stage technology based startups has finalized 5 start ups out of the previously selected list of  25 start ups for #MobileIQ. Held between 16th to 18th January, MobileIQ is a platform that aims at aiding mobile startups by providing initial funding for them. IndiaQuotient intends to evaluate each of these companies to invest in and expects to close at least one deal as soon as possible. As the products mature, they hope to invest in more than one of these shortlisted companies.

Designed on the principle of Learn-Launch-Get Funded, the top team is entitled to INR 50 Lakhs on a pure convertible note. This free of cost event is focused on identifying start-ups that build mobile-based products for masses beyond barriers of internet, language or apps.

The names of the shortlisted companies that made it to the top five are:

Taskbob creates happy households by providing everyday repairs, temp cooks or drivers etc.

WhichApp is a mobile app that helps users discover new apps that their friends use. Think of twitter for app discovery

Reach lets you shares files with your friends. This works very beautifully for music, and helps friends in closed groups to discover and share without uploading or downloading except when they need it.

The Zero Games allows brands to insert non-intrusive ads as a part of the gaming experience. So now gamers will see pepsi billboards on the buildings in the background of their games.

PinChat, perhaps the boldest idea of all, allows you to discover and chat with people who are at the same location as you are. Think of finding out who your neighbors are, and which one of those wants to play tennis this sunday.

IndiaQuotient founder Anand Lunia commented, “Apart from these top 5 start ups that we have finalized, we also believe that a few more may cross significant milestones to become more noteworthy. Fitho, Mobhe, Shippr, Instano, Viraltrics, Rentsetgo, pocketad are in the list of such probables.”

The event saw participation from leading funds like Sequoia, Matrix, Omidyar, Nexus, Lightbox and others which have not only shown interest but also promised to stay connected with ventures they liked. The event was organized by a young start up enthusiast and IITB student Nav Agarwal, almost single handedly.

One of the participants at #MobileIQ Kapil Chawla (Whichapp) commented, “Overall, this has been a great experience to meet the best early stage mobile startup entrepreneurs looking to disrupt large spaces. I am also very happy to take back some very insightful talk from the IQ portfolio founders and speakers.”

While another finalist Aseem from Taskbob commented – “It was a great event – giving us the necessary exposure and learning opportunity. Not only was it wonderful interacting and sharing ideas with investors, but it was also nice learning a whole new set of things, products from other startups around” said.

These top five finalists were selected by IndiaQuotient’s advisory team.  Budding entrepreneurs at the event got an opportunity to connect with top Startups, VCs and Mentors as well as be part of one on one mentoring sessions with the top industry experts and entrepreneurs. On the last and final day, all the teams were given 4 minutes to launch their product and 1 minute for Q&A.

The winners of the event were judged on the basis of Venture Description, Market Analysis, Unique Value Proposition, Competitive Landscape, Revenue Model Description, Social Impact and Team Description.
