    MoU signed for conservation and digitization of Indian origin manuscripts in South East Asia region

    New Delhi :- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM)), New Delhi and University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh city and for Survey, documentation, conservation, digitization and online dissemination of manuscripts of Indian origin. The MOU was signed by the Member Secretary, IGNCA, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi and the President, University of Social Science and Humanity Prof. Ngo Phuong Lan in august presence of  Mr. Madan Mohan Shetty, Consul General, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, Prof. Amarjiva Lochanand, Joint Dean, International Relations, University of Delhi and  Dr. Tran Anh Tien, Head of the International Division.

    This is the second International MoU signed between Vietnam and India. The first MOU on the same line was signed between India and Thailand on 24th April 2022. Apart from this National Mission for Manuscripts, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, has printed 108 volumes of Mongolian Kanjur till 31st March 2022 for different monasteries in Mongolia.

    NMM will help in setting up laboratories for conservation and digitization of manuscripts and provide one-time equipment for digitization. NMM is responsible for all maintenance costs of the Laboratory, all equipment and other components for the project for a period of one year from the date of installation of the equipment in Thailand and Vietnam both. The National Mission for Manuscript is committed to conserve and digitize the manuscripts of Indic origin and Buddhist Literature housed in South East Asian Countries like Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam etc.
