    Published on October 9, 2012

Bangalore :  Ion Exchange Services Ltd (IESL), the leader in providing services for any make and type of water and waste water treatment plants, announced its renewed focus into comprehensive Water Audits, a unique water management service. This service in India is offered to industries and institutions across diversified sectors such as pharmaceuticals, breweries, food & beverages, hotels, hospitals, software technology parks, to name a few. IESL, an associate company of Ion Exchange (India) Ltd., is the LARGEST organized service network in water treatment Industry across Asia.

Announcing this, Mr. Dinesh Sadasivan, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of IESL, said “A Water Audit is a detailed, critical study of the water use of a customer. Based on this detailed study and observations offered by a technically competent entity such as IESL, an audit gives recommendations on how to reduce wastage as well as consumption of water, improvements in treatment practices and methods along with cost benefit analysis.”

“The scope of services in a comprehensive water audit, offered by IESL, would include carrying out a survey of the existing water and waste water treatment facilities and arrive at a water balance, carrying out water audit and identify the areas of excess consumption, identify the sources of water, waste water and their characteristics and to suggest a scheme for recovery of water for various applications, report on present water treatment chemicals and their optimization recommendations, prepare a process design package for the optimization of usage, recovery and reuse of water and explore the possibility of Rain Water Harvesting” added Mr Sadasivan.

The water audit starts at the point where water enters the customer’s premises and goes up to the point where the waste water (contaminated in the process usages) is discharged, critically examining all aspects of use. The audit establishes the quantity/volume of water being used, wastage if any, leakages existing, excess use etc., and identifies areas where consumption can be reduced. It critically examines existing treatment systems and practices and recommends changes to improve efficiency and reduce usage. It also recommends the setting up of a system to maintain a record of the amount of water entering a system and to keep track of how this water is distributed and used.

“The benefits that can be derived out of a comprehensive water audit, implemented by a dedicated and technically competent service provider such as IESL are enormous, in terms of realizing water conservation and optimum utilization. Key benefits includes savings in fresh water consumption, optimum utilization of feed water, energy management of water related systems, consistent water quality, conservation of natural resource, optimization in process water quality, less downtime,  less corrosion and scaling and optimization of water and waste water treatment systems” concluded Mr Sadasivan.
