  • New Delhi: – The latest techniques of conducting examinations are through the Internet has revolutionised the way of education tactics globally. The system allowed educators and people to easily interact across borders and save time as well.

Hence, online testing became a more popular method of evaluating performance of the examinee, but this form of testing has its own pros and cons if compared to the traditional methods.

Let’s take a closer look as if how this particular way of learning is eradicating the vital needs of a student’s life. Mostly people preparing for IAS, PCS, IIT, AIEEE, SSC, Bank Examination etc work off site via the Internet, only the fewer people are eligible enough to use the computers and internet efficiently. Also, people preparing for rural level recruitment program are not familiar with the digitization in examination process and even after having a vast knowledge they fail or miss the exam. These online examination centers have also been exposed and caught for paper leak and cheating via team viewer, and since most of the exams are online examination body cannot locate how much authenticated exam was done.

However, a great benefit of online testing is its accessibility to peoples with disabilities. Computers can be customized to cater to those with various physical disabilities in order to bring them up on a level playing field with any other normal peoples.

Though, it’s a great boon for a section of peoples, but it’s not actually doing any good to the majority people who can’t use computers efficiently. Connectivity is a serious disadvantage of online testing as you can lose the internet connection in the middle of examination as the exams conducted in rural areas are not well equipped with power backup or high speed internet which is major need during the examination. In many cases this causes people to miss the exam or inadvertently submit tests that are incomplete.

Mr.Ajay Jain, Proprietor,International Business Firm added that it doesn’t ends there; the biggest hitch of any online assessment is the genuinity of the tests. The chances of cheating during an online test are tough to eliminate! In fact, unless an instructor is physically watching someone take the test, it is almost impossible to alleviate.

Whereas, in examination hall, people are required to speak out their minds. They are required to give presentations or speeches. They also have to work in groups with all kinds of people with many differing viewpoints. Traditional style learning ensures these aspects.

While preparing for the traditional ways of examination, a person has to learn and has to memorize the teachings of the class. There’s a brain work out. Doing this regularly develops their memory power and also enhances their ability to learn and imbibe the teachings fast and effectively. When someone does not have to study and memorize material, it does not embed in his or her long term memory the way it does when they do study it.
