    JNTU(K) and C.R. Rao AIMSCS sign MoU

    Hyderabad : The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada and the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. Addressing the media, world renowned Statistician and past Director of Indian Statistical Institute Padma Vibhushan Prof. Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao (popularly known as Prof. C.R. Rao) informed that according to the MoU, Kakinada’s JNTU(K) and the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) situated at University of Hyderabad campus will collaborate on Joint Research Projects and organization of workshops / seminars / conferences / Doctoral  and Post Graduate programmes, both at the national and international levels in topics of mutual interest in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, with special emphasis in Computational Genomics, Bio-Informatics etc., or allied subjects and their applications; etc. The MOU was signed in the presence of Prof. Allam Appa Rao, Vice-Chancellor JNTU Kakinada; Padma Vibhushan Prof. C.R.Rao;  Dr. S. B. Rao, Director – C.R. Rao AIMSCS; JNTU-K Registrar V. Ravindra and others at Hotel Green Park, Hyderabad today.

    Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Allam Appa Rao, Vice Chancellor of JNTU Kakinada said that with the signing of this MoU, Faculty, Researchers and Scientists, Visiting Faculty at the two institutions may undertake joint research projects on topics of mutual interest in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Genomics etc., or allied subjects and their applications. Further, Grants or Funds received thought joint proposals will be shared based on effort and commitment and equivalent fund will be managed by respective institution.

    Prof. C.R. Rao informed that ‘Sankhya’ – The national museum of Statistics will be setup close to the premises of C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) at Hyderabad. Former President of India and eminent scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will lay the foundation stone for the same on Wednesday, 30th March 2011.

    Prof. Allam Appa Rao further stated that Research Scholars at the AIMSCS may register for Ph.D at the JNTU (K) and the candidates selected by AIMSCS as Research Fellows, without any need for any other qualifying test, shall be allowed to register for Ph.D by JNTU(K). The research scholars from AIMSCS registered for Ph.D at JNTU(K) will have a guide and co- guide. If the guide is from JNTU(K), the co-guide would be from AIMSCS and Vice-versa. Both AIMSCS and JNTU (K), in mutually agreed subjects may undertake joint teaching programmes, leading to a PG Degree, he added.

    Dr. S. B. Rao, Director of AIMSCS said that Faculty (Visiting, Adjunct, Permanent or Associate) from either institution would participate in the normal teaching activities on a mutually agreed basis and as per the norms of the respective institutes.
