  • KENYA heralded as the Perfect Location for your Destination Wedding

    Published on September 15, 2015

Destination weddings are very romantic and offer you and your fiancé a chance to get away to a beautiful, scenic venue to exchange IMG_20150915_075657vows in the presence of your loved ones. If you opt for a destination wedding, the most important factor you must consider is location.

Kenya is a beautiful country with picturesque scenery and outstanding landscapes, some of which make it the ultimate wedding destination. If you dream of getting married overlooking the enchanting savannah plains, or perhaps on the bewitching coast with its white-sand beaches and turquoise seas, a wedding in Kenya is truly romantic.

The country has an amazing selection of wedding venues that will suit your nuptial dreams. A wedding in the wild, for instance, gets to appreciate the beauty of nature and wildlife as you recite your vows.  Beaches, on the other hand, are naturally just idyllic, with neat palm trees and a gentle breeze blowing across the white sandy beaches and sky blue ocean waters.

The guaranteed sunshine of the African climate means that there is one less thing to worry about in the run up to your big day.

If you are looking for an extraordinary wedding celebration, then consider a traditional Maasai marriage ceremony. Imagine donning traditional tribal regalia complete with maasai dance and chanting, a laibon pours milk on the feet of the couple, joyful singing and dancing accompanying the traditional union as guests join in. Couples have also the choice of having priests and pastors officiating in their wedding if they so wish but the traditional ceremony is an experience of a life time.

If you think that to get married in Kenya there will be a plethora of paperwork and official red tape then think again. A wedding ceremony is relatively simple to organise. To get married in Kenya, couples must present their passports to the registrar’s office. There’s a 21-day waiting period to obtain the license, but a special marriage license that waives this waiting period can be granted at the registrar’s. An additional special wedding license must also be obtained if you plan to get married anywhere other than the registrar’s office.

Kenya offers a variety of wedding options – you can have a religious ceremony in a church, a civil ceremony in a Register Office or a civil ceremony, blessing or renewal of vows in a beautiful setting such as a luxury safari camp or an upmarket beach hotel. Christian, Islamic, Traditional African and Hindu ceremonies are all possible in Kenya.

It is no wonder that such a scene set the ambiance for Prince William to propose to Kate Middleton – this is the place where their fairy tale began.

Couples are choosing to combine their special day with a holiday of a lifetime including the thrills of a luxury safari and time to relax on the pristine white sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean. Whether your special day is barefoot on the beach or luxuriating in the wilderness, a wedding in Kenya will be breathtakingly beautiful.
