  • Keywords Studios and India subsidiary, Lakshya bet big on Destination India

    New Delhi : Keywords Studios, a leading provider of Game Art and Animation services to the global games industry and its India subsidiary, Lakshya, India’s number one Game Art and Animation studio, held career road shows in 3 cities – Delhi, Hyderabad and Faridabad on August 23rd, August 25th and August 26th respectively and was well attended by over 500 participants collectively. The road shows in association with Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) meant to tap into fresh engineering talent in India that can be inducted into the relatively unexplored game development industry in India.

    As an extension of its ‘Destination India’ initiative, Keywords Studios initiated a dialogue with the engineers and academicians in India to introduce them to the world of video game development. The road shows, in association with MESC, invited participants, and created engagement targeted at opening up opportunities both for the company as well as bright individuals excited about a career in game creation.

    Commenting on the idea of the road show, Manvendra Shukul, CEO – Lakshya, and Governing Council Member of Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) said, “With our Destination India ambition, we are poised to use the Indian talent pool to create a global game art and game development talent creation hub. We find the road-show to be just the right approach to meet and interact with the an audience that we can enthuse and bring on board. There is a huge pool of talent that seeks guidance and we are confident of showing the multitude of opportunities available to them under our new service line, game development.”

    Globally, Game Development or Game Engineering is one of the most prominent service lines in the Keywords business portfolio, apart from Functional QA, Localization, and Art. India is expected to become one of the world’s leading markets in the gaming industry. Growing steadily for the last five years, it is expected to treble in value and reach $3.9 billion by 2025, states the KPMG report.

    Mohit Soni, Chief Executive Officer, Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) said, “The gaming industry has gained momentum over the last few years, and we feel that India has a strong potential in this segment. Owing to our robust engineering education system, India is very well placed to fill the huge gap in availability of quality game engineers.”

    Phil Owen, Head of Engineering – d3t (Keywords Studios, UK) was the key speaker during the road show along with Manvendra Shukul.

    The road shows were held to bridge the gap between the huge pool of talent available in India and the growing demand for skilled workforce in the video game development eco-system, domestically as well as globally and also how commonly acquired skills through existing course curriculum can be fine-tuned to be eligible for one of the following career options:
