  • LBSIM opens Business Analytics Lab in New Delhi in association with IBM

    New Delhi: Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced the opening of IBM Business Analytics Lab at the New Delhi campus of LBSIM. This Lab is a part of IBM’s Career Education program where IBM will provide training to the faculty members of LBSIM.  The faculty in turn will train the students and will enable them with the requisite skill sets that are relevant to today’s business world.

    Commenting on the collaboration with LBSIM, Kaushik Bhaskar, Vice President, India Software Labs, IBM India said, “The Career Education Program is the perfect testimony to IBM’s continued commitment to software education and skills development in our country. This new generation of business managers equipped with best in-class analytical skills would bring greater value to the industry. Students would also be working on cases that emanate from real-world business scenarios to gain the best of experiential learning.”

    Post the completion of the faculty development programs and integration of analytics curriculum, the faculty members will impart these skills to management students. Students will be trained to use IBM Infosphere BigInsights to analyze big data, IBM SPSS for predictive analytics and IBM Cognos for descriptive analytics and business intelligence. The curriculum provided by IBM under its Career education program will offer students hands-on experience of working with a range of IBM Analytics solutions, and will include real-world examples from IBM and industry experts.

    Prof. Arya Kumar, Director, LBSIM on this collaborative effort with IBM in setting up a Business Analytics Lab stated that “Business Analytics skills imparted through hands on experience in the lab will add a new perspective in teaching-learning process for the students in related courses introduced by LBSIM in the last few years. It would also provide a leading edge to students to use these tools in descriptive, predictive and big data analytics to come out with multi-faceted perspective in data analysis. LBSIM also has plans to organize management development programs in association with IBM and introduce a PGDM for working executives with industry experience and specializing in Business Analytics.”

    Prof. Alok Pandey, Coordinator-Placements & Corporate Relationship Cell and Professor-Finance, LBSIM additionally highlighted the interest envisaged by the faculty, students and companies visiting the campus for placements to see students trained in relevant skills that are required by today’s business environment.
