India’s leading infrastructure giants, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged its largest ever contract to build Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Metro Rail Project. The massive project costs around 8250 crores rupees.
The project consists of construction of bridges, tunnels, elevated and underground stations, depots, roads, systems for closed circuit television and public announcements with allied systems for the first-of-its-kind project in the Kingdom.
The total value of the project which was won in a consortium is 35,000 crore rupees. The other companies in the consortium for this global tender are Ansaldo STS of Italy, Bombardier Transportation of the UK, Impregilo of Italy, Nesma & Partners of Saudi Arabia Arabia.
L&T Director and Senior Executive Vice President N.Subrahamanyan said that the company plans to increase its staff strength in Saudi Arabia by shifting some persons from India and hiring more persons locally.
