  • MAAC introduces Autodesk Smoke 2013 Brings in latest editing software for students & Professionals in Chennai

    Chennai : Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) – leader in 3D Animation and VFX training, introduced the latest version of Autodesk Smoke 2013 – a professional Mac video editing software today, at its Anna Nagar centre in Chennai. Ace Movie Editor, Mr. Leo John Paul from the Soodhu Karvum, Pizza fame graced the occasion with his presence and launched the software.

    launch_002The event witnessed an overwhelming response with young talented working professionals from studios and production houses attending and acquiring tips on the ‘Art of editing’ from Chief Guest Mr. Paul.  At the event, Mr. Paul spoke shared the experiences he underwent while working on the film Soodhu Karvum.

    Video editors play a dynamic and creative role in the process of storytelling.  They work in collaboration with producers and directors to create final productions from images captured by the camera operators. The modified version of Smoke 2013 is equipped with high-end finishing tools that integrate editing with powerful visual effects aiding the editors to add finesse to their editing. Smoke 2013 is an all-in-one video editing and finishing tool used for 3D compositing, colour correction and motion graphics.

    Mr. Ram Warrier, Business Head, MAAC said, “Smoke is used extensively in the broadcast and film industry. Hence, it was necessary to educate students and conduct training sessions on the functioning of this newly developed technology. “

    Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Shajan Samuel, Sr. Vice President, MAAC said, “Introducing Smoke training will give an added advantage to our students and help enhance their editing skills. Production houses hire professional video editors who are well versed with the use of this software. We have also developed industry relevant courses for Autodesk Smoke that could benefit the students and make them job ready.”  Furthermore even Professionals who are employees with studios /Production Houses can enhance their skills with smoke.
