  • Mumbai: As Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) completed five years of taking over operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) passengers were treated to some personalized, memorable and positively surprising moments on the occasion of “Passengers’ Day”. As a part of the continuing and ongoing effort to enhance the CSIA travel experience, a series of initiatives were organized throughout the day to commemorate the occasion.

    The highlight of the day remained the holiday cheer amongst passengers generated as a result of a well-choreographed flash mob performances conducted at pre-fixed time periods across designated locations at both the domestic and international terminals. As their concept goes, the flash mob group mingled with the passengers posing as one of them. The passengers were taken into surprise by a sudden music and dance performance by a group of youngsters making their wait interesting. In the end, the group displayed a banner with a thanksgiving message to the passengers, CSIA’s most honoured guests, for all their encouragement and support in making the day so special for MIAL. The initiative was first of its kind for any airport in India.

    Additionally, special designed chocolate boxes bearing thank you messages were distributed to all arriving and departing passengers at CSIA. Discount coupons to be redeemed at various retail and F & B outlets across terminals were also handed over to passengers. Standees bearing messages focusing on the celebratory mood at the airport were also placed at strategic locations.

    GV Sanjay Reddy, Managing Director, Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) said, “Passengers’ Day was a one-of-its-kind pioneering initiative started by us in 2009 and over the last two years, we have consistently built on the overwhelming response from passengers and other stakeholders at CSIA. At MIAL, this day serves as an opportunity for us to express our heart-felt gratitude to passengers for the continuous support we have received from them. The completion of five years of modernization of CSIA only makes this occasion more special”.

    MIAL has been celebrating Passengers’ Day at CSIA for three consecutive years now.  Over the last two years the initiative has been appreciated by passengers and MIAL has received encouraging feedback from all stakeholders at CSIA.
