MicroTech Global Foundation (MTGF), a nonprofit organization steadfastly engaged in the use of technology for the promotion of the welfare of the Indians today honored the student fraternity by awarding the best innovation in the fields of security, technology and mobile applications. The over three months long ‘Micro Innovation League’ competition for students culminated in the Grand Finale held at Vashi, New Bombay on 15th August 2012.

MIL

Micro Innovation League is a major initiative of Micro Tech Global Foundation. It is an important technology competition designed to develop closer interactions between two vital organs of the society namely the academia and the industry

MIL is organized with the aim of bringing awareness among the people of the technological advances in the country and motivates younger generation in particular to participate in the joys of technological innovations.

MIL achieved its main objectives of reaching out to budding technologists and rewarding them for their creative skills in their areas of specialization.

CONTEST

The ‘Micro Innovation League’ competitions started off in right earnest on our ‘National Technology Day’ on May11, 2012. Students from 20 institutions across the nation participated in the fierce contest by presenting creative innovations relevant to the society. Out of that 46 were qualified and invited for showcasing their innovations.

The First and Second Round were held on July 20 & 27 respectively. Four teams were shortlisted for the Grand Finale.

The contests were adjudged by an eminent panel of judges that included   Messrs Mr. A. R. Kale (Director, MTGF), Dr. R. Rajaram (eminent scientist), Prakash Bhave (Quality Control Expert), Raghavendra Raichur (MDSETO Teknolog Pvt Ltd) and Dr. Anil Bharadwaj (DGM, ONGC). They presented the awards to the winners in various categories.

Addressing the media, Mr. AnantKale briefed on initiatives by Micro Tech Global Foundation and exhorted the students to take active part in various activities hosted by MTFG.  The judges thanked the students for their excellent innovation and urged them to participate in MIL Competition every year in large numbers.

Four Teams were selected for the Final Round at the Grand Finale. The students from these four teams presented their creations before an appreciative audience.

There was a Quiz Program also for the audience on general topics.

Prizes

The First Prize was won by the Rise Up Team hailing from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai for its innovation ‘The Augmented Reality’ asubset of Mixed Reality. Augmented Reality adds virtual information to a predominantly real image or representation of the world in order to enhance or augment the information the user receives. The First Prize   carried a Certificate of Appreciation and cash of Rs 35,000.

The Second Prize was clichéd by Saraswati College of Engineering, Mumbai for its innovative product, The Dual Operative Bicycle (DOB) which has the dual function of operating a bicycle with its traditional pedaling and compressed air power. The Second Prize included a Certificate of Appreciation and cash worth of Rs 25, 000.

As there was a tie in the rating of points between the third and the fourth team namely Vasantdada Patil Pratishthan and Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Institute of Technology,  they both shared Third Prize of Certificates of Appreciation and Rs 15,000. Their innovations: An electric powered skateboard which provides solution of transportation for humans and luggage from one point to another in minimum time and HAKI-NFC based Android Application for near field communication respectively.

Micro Tech Global Foundation is a self sustaining organization which aims to come up with encouraging steps that help in promoting overall developments in the fields of Education and Research, Sports,   Culture and Community Development.  MTGF believes that every life has equal value and it is the core of work at the Foundation.
