  • MIRCHI CARES wins the Golden Peacock Special Commendation CSR Awards 2013-14

    Mirchi Cares, the CSR  Initiative of Radio Mirchi, was honoured with a Special Commendation at the Golden Peacock Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2013-14. Instituted C. Pallavi Rao Narvekar, Group Head, CSR  receiving Golden Peacock  Awardby the Institute of Directors, India, in 1991, the awards are regarded as a benchmark of Corporate Excellence worldwide.

    Mirchi Cares actively works towards the betterment of blind and visually impaired people. The division provides audio help and entertainment with a central objective of ‘Inclusiveness of the blind’ into main stream society.

    More than 450 audio books and stories have been recorded with the help of in-house volunteers as well as Radio Mirchi listener volunteers from across 32 stations under the ‘Lend Your Voice’ campaign. Audio descriptive films such as 3 idiots, Taare Zameen Par, Hanuman, Munnabhai MBBS and Stanley ka Dabba have been amped at various blind schools across the country in association with the NGO Saksham.

    Recently, Mirchi Cares produced the first ever restaurant menu in Braille for Chungwa, a popular Chinese restaurant in Delhi.  This has helped in providing comfort and independence to the sightless, and to ensure that they can order from the menu without any assistance. Continuing in its mission of inclusiveness of the blind, Mirchi Cares has collated with restaurants across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Nasik, Pune, Rajkot, Raipur and Patna to launch their menu in Braille.

    Mirchi Cares was recently recognised by the National Association for the Blind, for their unique effort of converting auto rickshaw and taxi meter fares into audio format.
