  • MoBiTec and GORYO Chemical Ink Distribution Agreement to Sell High-End Calcium Indicators and Cancer-Selective Fluorescent Imaging Probes

    Published on April 29, 2015

MobitechGoettingen, Germany : GORYO Chemical, Inc., located in Sapporo, Japan, provides new fluorescent probes for cellular analyses, assays, and imaging.

A seminal product family are the calcium indicators CaSiR-1™ and CaSiR-1™ AM:

These fluorescent dyes are near-infrared fluorescence calcium probes which have an emission maximum at 664 nm. Multicolor imaging is possible with CaSiR-1™ or CaSiR-1™ AM and fluorescent probes or fluorescent proteins which have a fluorescence output in the visible area such as Hoechst, Fluorescein, Rhodamine, GFP, YFP, RFP, etc.

The benefits of near-infrared fluorogenic indicators:

    • Fluoresce in the deep red region

    • Deeper tissue penetration

    • Reduced background autofluorescence

    • Reduced phototoxicity to cells and tissues

    • Recognize Ca2+ supersensitivity.

    • Visualize fluctuation of Ca2+ in cytoplasm

A cutting-edge fluorescent probe is the solvatochromic dye called POLARIC™. It can change not only the fluorescence intensity, but also the fluorescence wavelength widely by each organelle in living cells. Presently, it is the only stain that can simultaneously stain mitochondria orange and plasma membrane green. This feature is due to the chromatic response to the polarity in micro-environments like a living cell. It is not only used as imaging reagent for cellular analyses or assays, but also as chromatic changing maker for fluorescence labeling of proteins, peptides, antibodies, and oligonucleotides for molecularly-targeted drug or immunoassay.

A further remarkable product of GORYO’s portfolio is ProteoGREEN™-gGlu, which is a cancer-selective fluorescent imaging probe. This probe is rapidly activated by g-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), known as a tumor-associated enzyme, resulting in a highly fluorescent compound.

The membrane-permeable ProteoGREEN™-gGlu is applicable to live cell or in vivo imaging of cancer cells.

“MoBiTec believes that the collaboration with GORYO Chemical Ltd. offers a great opportunity to launch the latest in Near-Infrared Calcium Indicator and Cancer Research Technology,” said Joerg Ronnenberg, CEO, MoBiTec GmbH, Germany.
