  • Vindoo Dara SinghA Mumbai court today extended the police custody of Vindoo Dara Singh till 31st May in the IPL betting case. The Mumbai Police told the court that they would like to further probe the nexus between Vindoo and Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf. The Crime Branch said that Vindoo had asked Rauf to destroy a SIM Card given by absconding bookie Sanjay Jaipur. It further claimed that Vindoo had helped Sanjay Jaipur to escape to Dubai. Public Prosecutor Kiran Bendbar told the court that Mumbai Police also intends to confront Vindoo with Ashwin Agarwal alias Tinku, a bookie arrested by the special cell of Delhi police.

    Meanwhile, Additional Metropolitan Magistrate A M Padwad today also extended the police custody of hawala operator Alpesh Patel and bookie conduit Prem Taneja, who were arrested along with Vindoo on 21st May.

    In Delhi, a local court today refused police plea for custody of cricketer S Sreesanth for two more days, and sent him to judicial custody till June 4 in IPL spot-fixing case. The Court also remanded cricketer Ajit Chandila and two bookies in judicial custody till June 4.

    In a related development, the Court rejected cricketer Ankeet Chavan’s bail plea in IPL spot-fixing case.
