  • Mumbai to host the first B2B exhibition of the Jewellery & Gems Fair in December

    Mumbai : Mumbai is all set to glitter and dazzle in the first ever edition of Jewellery & Gems Fair (MJGF) which will take place December 9th to 11th, 2011 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The Mumbai show’s principle event in Hong Kong is the world’s largest jewellery event – the last edition of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair hosted over 3.300 exhibitors and over 44,000 visitors from 135 countries. Drawing on the success of the two previous fairs in Hyderabad & Chennai, the Mumbai fair is pitched to be another jewel in UBM India’s cap. As a direct response to the burgeoning market, UBM India has positioned the Mumbai fair during the prime buying season which began with the October and goes on until next January. This season witnesses the buyers stocking up for the next entire year!

    Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is one of the world’s fastest growing and most influential cities and has an established reputation as a leading manufacturer of fine jewellery, diamonds and gemstones. The value of India’s jewellery exports increased by 47% over the last year alone, top buying countries being the UAE, China and the USA. Also, the domestic market continues to grow, despite the current global economic environment India’s GDP is expected to grow by over 8% for the year 2011.

    UBM already organizes the two leading shows in South India, namely the Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) in Chennai and the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF). Together, these shows now attract more than 18,000 buyers. The organizer expects the debut Mumbai edition to feature over 300 exhibitors and attract 8000-10,000 visitors. “The Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair will be a comprehensive B2B jewellery event providing gemstone and jewellery manufacturers an invaluable opportunity to meet potential customers and gather primary market intelligence,” Sanjeev Khaira, MD of UBM India Pvt.     Taking advantage of UBM Asia’s powerful database of buyers and of intensive global promotion at its key trade fairs and in major publications, the fair aims to draw a huge number of potential buyers from India and overseas. Leading industry associations such as the All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) and the Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewelers Association have extended their support to UBM’s Mumbai event. Various pre-registration activities have been conducted across India to register significant visitors from the industry who will be provided with direct entry to the exhibition without any hassle.     MJGF will also be presenting the IJ Choice Design Awards which will take place during the event. The awards will highlight and award the best designed jewellery in India from in a variety of categories.     gold & diamond jewellery will be showcased by professional models.

    The All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) is a Summit Partner to the show with GIA being the Knowledge Partner. GJF will be conducting workshop series for retailers and buyers who will be visiting the fair.
