  • Mumbai’s Biggest Healthy Heart Mela held at Masina Hospital on World Heart Day

    Mumbai: Masina Hospital, one of Mumbai’s largest leading legacy healthcare centre concluded a Mega Heart Health Mela at its premises to observe World Heart Day 2022 celebrated today. The event saw participation of over 250 citizens who got a holistic check-up and better understanding of preventive measures against heart ailments.

    The event included free tests like 2D Echo Screening, ECG, Lipid Profile, Random Blood Sugar, Depression-Anxiety-Stress Screening tests, Physiotherapy consultation & dietician interventions with results provided in real time. Additionally, they were also guided on techniques to manage stress effectively, understanding of a heart healthy diet, an exercise plan that works, basic CPR training, Q&A with a heart specialist and many more heart related queries were addressed. Citizens were seen clicking happy pictures at the designated selfie points on getting their queries solved and were offered discount coupons for their next visit.

    On this occasion, Dr Vispi Jokhi, CEO, Masina Hospital said, “We are seeing a constant rise in the cardiovascular death rate in India rapidly. Hence, the need for an awareness drive was a must. It was great to see people come forward with various concerns and issues regarding heart health and get their necessary solutions and treatments. We aim to continue these initiatives in the future to address various health issues of the city.”

    Expert doctors at Masina Hospital provided 2 hours of training on how to save a life with basic CPR. CPR training is important for everyone as a First Aid during Heart Attack. CPR training includes what hands-on CPR is all about, why it’s important and how to perform CPR extending informative resources to help one prepare for the worst.

    At Mega Heart Health Fair, Dr. Zainulabedin Hamdulay, renowned Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon & Director, Chairman of Masina Heart Institute emphasized the link between stress and heart disease. There are evident researches that stress raises risk of serious heart problems, leads to high blood pressure, lowers levels of “Good Cholesterol” HDL harming the heart health. It is recommended to get professional help and evaluate your stress levels and this becomes especially important if you have associated risk factors for heart disease such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.
