Mumbai: Every year, lakhs of Ganesh idols are made in Mumbai to celebrate the festive occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. But ever since it has been established that idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP) are detrimental to the environment, more and more devotees are becoming inclined towards worshipping an idol made from eco-friendly materials. Saluting these noble sentiments being harboured by Mumbaikars, Ꭹrmitee Art Gallery⊨as brought forth thousands of Ganesh idols made from several eco-friendly materials for Ganesh devotees to choose from.

In order to make this yearⳠGanesh utsav as eco-friendly as possible; the Ꭹrmitee Art Gallery⠬ocated near Portuguese Church, Dadar, has launched a unique endeavour termed Ꭹsargachi Denagi⠨The Boon of Nature). Elaborating about this endeavour, Surendra Khajanchi of Ꭹrmitee Art Gallery⠳ays 㗥 have created thousands of Ganesh idols from natural elements such as coconut shells, bamboo, weaver-birdⳠnest, betelnut, jute papier-m⣨mud, seeds, mushroom, bottle-gourd, cloth, stone and many more. Priced from a modest Rs. 100 all the way up to Rs. 50,000, these idols have been garnering tremendous response!伯span>

For the last 15 years, Ꭹrmitee Art Gallery⠨as been organizing a ᖡkratund Mela⠯ne month prior to Ganesh utsav. This year, the ᖡkratund Mela⠩s scheduled to be held from 9th August to 4th September 2011. Guests will be able to see unique sights such as a ᢯ok-reading Ganesha⬠ᤲummer Ganesha⬠᢯atman Ganesha⬊ᬡptop-wielding Ganesha and so on.  Furthermore, Khajanchi informs that these eco-friendly Ganesh idols will come with a discount of 10% at the mela.
