Mumbai : A survey conducted by Naukri.com with 1000+ recruiters across India revealed a vibrant hiring scenario in the first half of 2012. However the overall optimism is lower than what it was six months ago. In Jul-11, 78% recruiters had predicted addition of new jobs in the second half of 2011, while this year 72% recruiters have said that new jobs will becreated in the first half of 2012. About 4% recruiters have said that there will be layoffs this year and another 4% said that there will be no hiring.

Thus, although the overall sentiment shows that there will be positive jobs growth over the next six months, recruiters in Auto, Banking, Pharma and Construction were not as optimistic as those in the other sectors.

The Naukri Hiring Outlook survey is conducted twice a year to gauge the hiring trends across sectors. This gives a clear outlook about the employment opportunities in the market and throws light on increments, job opportunities and attrition levels.

Ambarish Raghuvanshi, Chief FinancialOfficer, Info Edge India said, “ Hiring intentions are determined one by the outlook for economic growth over the next six months and beyond and two by business confidence levels. Macro concerns across the board have led to a more muted outlook resulting in weaker hiring trends. Continued improvement in business optimism should lead to more momentum in hiring. A marginal drop in the indices over the last six months indicates that recruiters have factored in most of the bad news. Talented employees continue to be at a premium and finding and retaining them is a challenge for recruiters.”

    Attrition levels

Attrition has always been an area of concern for recruiters. More than 56% recruiters said that attrition in their organization is less than 10%. However it is interesting to note that almost 24% of recruiters also said that attrition levels in their organization is above 15%.

    Increments:

The survey also revealed the increments organizations plans to give out to their employees in 2012. 32% said that the range will be between 10% and 15% and 31% said increments will be within the range of 15% and 20%. However it is interesting to note that 15% said that the increments will be less than 5%.

    Experiencelevels vis a vis jobs:

When recruiters were questioned on which experience levels will witness they be hiring for, 44% of them said 4-8 yearsand 34% recruiters said that it would be within 1- 3 years. 9% of them opted for 8-15 years and 11% said that jobs would be created for freshers.

    Talent Crunch

The widening gap between demand and supply for talented workers has become a major cause of worry. 61% of recruiters who took the survey said that they face a talent crunch while hiring. Among these recruiters, 44% said that the maximum talent crunch was witnessed in the 4-8 years experience bracket.

Methodology: The Naukri Hiring Outlook survey is a half-yearly survey which is sent out to the registered clients of Naukri.com. This is an e-mail survey and the results are compiled using statistical and analytical techniques.
