New Delhi : The auspicious Navratri festival is begining from today. It is a nine day festival during which , nine forms of Godess Durga are worshiped. The festival which begins today will end on April 1st with Ram Navmi celebration. This period is also known as Chaitra Navratri or Chait Navratras as it falls during the lunar month of Chaitra.

Navratri is celebrated during Vasanta Rhitu that is beginning of summer between the month of March- April. This period is taken as sacred opportunities for the worship of the Divine Mother.The festival also marks beginning of Hindi New Year day. This is very popular festive season in North Indian state. This is also known as Chaitra navaratri as it falls during the lunar month of Chaitra.
