  • NeighborWorks Housing Solutions Welcomes Elvira Caldeira to Board of Directors

    Published on January 11, 2024

KINGSTON:NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions (NHS), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, is pleased to announce Elvira Caldeira of Raynham as a member of its Board of Directors.

Nonprofit board leadership is a critical and fundamental piece to nonprofit management and to a high-functioning nonprofit.  Board members provide the thought leadership and guidance that nonprofits need as they fulfill their mission and implement strategic efforts to provide services and support to their constituents.  Often, the nonprofit board is the organization’s first and most loyal volunteers and contributors.  The fiduciary responsibilities of the board provide a layer of organizational accountability and protection that foster growth and enable better application and stewardship of resources.

NHS has built a richly diverse board that includes a broad spectrum of backgrounds and experiences, representing the communities in which services are delivered.  Caldeira brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and leadership to her position on the NHS board of directors.  In this capacity, she, along with other board members, will assist in overseeing the direction of the nonprofit that has provided services to more than 20,000 households in over 75 cities and towns across the region.  She and the board will be forward-thinking about how to best position the agency for the future.

Caldeira started her career in banking and transitioned to a role with NHS in 2014 to manage the organization’s homeownership and lending program.  During this time, she developed strategic partnerships with the business community to help local families realize their dream of homeownership.  In addition to homeownership, Caldeira managed the administration for the “Get the Lead Out” program, which provided loans to households and landlords impacted by lead paint.  This loan program enabled families to make their homes safer in an affordable way.  Caldeira is currently the portfolio and lending operations manager with Massachusetts Housing Partnership in Boston.

Caldeira holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from New England College of Business and is in the process of obtaining her JD from New England College of Law.  In 2021 Caldeira was recognized by Cape & Plymouth Business as one of their “40 under 40” honorees.

“Elvira’s first-hand knowledge and appreciation of the important services we provide, combined with her leadership and strategic mindset, are perfectly suited to her role as a member of the board of directors,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions.
