New Delhi:  National Food Security Act will be implemented in all remaining states and union territories barring Tamil Nadu by April this year. Currently the Act is in place in 25 states. Briefing media in New Delhi about achievements of his Ministry, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also informed that government will soon achieve 100 per cent digitisation of ration cards.

He said, so far, 97 percent digitisation has been completed. He said over 10.10 crore ration cards have been seeded with AADHAR numbers which has helped plug leakages. Mr Paswan also said 3.75 crore bogus ration cards have come to light following the seeding of AADHAR numbers.

On recent rise in prices of pulses, the Minister said it was basically due to demand-supply gap. He said Centre has taken several precautionary measures to address the issue.

The Minister said so far 44 lakh tonne pulses have been imported to meet the demand. He said over 280 lakh tonne wheat and 224 lakh tonne paddy has been procured so far.
