Now Could be the Best Time to Look for a New Business Contract for Your Commercial Electricity Supply

    Published on June 8, 2020

The global economy is close to shutting down on multiple levels, as international business is highly restricted now. Any international commerce still ongoing is only being carried out for maintaining emergency, medical and essential products and services. Inside the United Kingdom, the number of deaths from Covid-19 has surpassed even Italy and Spain by the thousands, while the lockdowns have simultaneously managed to put millions of workers out of their jobs indefinitely.

In spite of everything that has been affecting the country as a whole and its industrial segment in particular, facts show that for existing businesses, now could be the best time to hunt for a better contract from their commercial energy providers.

What Happens When Supply Exceeds Demand?

It rarely happens these days, especially in the energy sector given that electricity is, in its essence, the reason why modern civilisation as we know it exists. However, the main consumers of electricity, aka the industrial segments of the UK are not operating at even 25% of their capacity right now, causing the entire supply exceeding demand scenario to play out badly against the interests of energy providers.

Whenever demand for any in-demand product comes crashing down suddenly without notice or time to adjust accordingly, a massive economic imbalance is unavoidable. This is exactly why a number of traditional business energy producers have already closed shop, while even some of the biggest names in the energy business are just holding on, barely trying to find enough business to keep them going for the time being.

Why It Presents the Perfect Opportunity to Consumer Businesses

The price of traditional electricity in the business sector is now 40% lower than what it was in May 2019, with April alone seeing an additional lowering of 13% in business energy prices in the UK. Given how many hikes in commercial energy prices we have seen in the country before all this began, that’s nothing short of astounding.

As of now, companies of all sizes can use Utility Bidder to find the lowest possible business electricity prices per kWh. This puts the consumer businesses at a huge advantage because:

    • They can further lower the price they pay per unit than what would be average even in this slumped market
    • On signing a contract now, they will continue to save money in the post lockdown scene, even when the price of business energy begins to rise again

    The Long term Advantage

As time passes on and the lockdown is eased out slowly, things will start to get back to normal, or at least that’s what everybody is hoping for anyway. When that time comes though, a surge in demand for electricity is inevitable, which equates to a surge in pricing per kWh of commercial electricity as well.

Companies that land a low-priced contract with one of the top providers in the UK right now though, will be benefiting from their clever decision for the duration of the contract, even in that not-so-distant future.
