  • NTPC Bongaigaon running successfully

    Kokrajhar: The flagship project of NTPC Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project situated at Salakati in Assam’s Kokrajhar district recorded highest ever daily Ash utilization of 1523.5 MT. DC (with 3 units running) more than 100 % achieved continuously for 2 months( December 100.13% November 100.93%).

    Addressing media persons, Group General Manager, NTPC Bongaigaon Rakesh Kumar, said the NTPC Bongaigaon has achieved various milestones in the year 2019-20.The Commercial Operation Date (COD) of UNIT #III at NTPC Bongaigaon was declared on 26.03.2019 at 00:00 hours. With these all the three Units of the Plant are now fully operational

    “We have recorded highest ever daily Ash utilization of 1523.5 MT. DC (with 3 units running) more than 100 % achieved continuously for 2 months( Dec 100.13% Nov 100.93%).We are also happy to share that our UNIT #1 which has been running on continuous hours have recorded zero forced outage.     Kumar also stated that apart from Plant activities, the NTPC Bongaigaon under its corporate social responsibilities (CSR) Community Development Plan have carried out various work including construction of  community hall at Dholmara, community toilets at Salakati market, Kalipukhuri and Dholmara. A mini water supply in Chandigaon was inaugurated. For the benefit of children and students various initiatives are being taken through Ladies Club which includes distribution of bags, notebooks etc at schools like Ramakrishna Mission at Basugaon.

    He  also said that a MOU was signed between NTPC-Bongaigaon & Central Institute of Technology-Kokrajhar for taking up collaborative educational initiatives to conduct training programs in various topics of common interest, namely to jointly organize seminars, conference/workshop, training etc for a duration of 5 years. For the further development of the local youth a Diploma in computer applications was also organised at Don Bosco Institute where a total of 36 youths underwent the training which went on for six months. The students were selected from the villages nearby NTPC namely Amguri, Nayachara, Kanthalguri, Salakati. Roads from Salakati-Titaguri, Saharpur and Ash Dyke have also been constructed under CSR. “We along with our CISF unit is also conducting training for the local youths to identify and coach eligible candidates for applying for the post of Constable (GD) in CAPFS, NIA, SSF and AR.A total of 277 candidates registered out of which 24 were girls, he said adding the NTPC Bongaigaon is committed to continuously strive for excellence and work for all round development of its community.
