  • Oman joins the Bollywood Bandwagon

    Mumbai : In its effort to popularize Oman as a leisure destination to the premium Indian travelers, the Ministry of Tourism – Sultanate of Oman unveiled a co-branding campaign at a star-studded event in Mumbai with the keenly awaited Bollywood feature, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara.

    The objective of this promotional campaign running on various media platforms such as print, online and radio is to create awareness about the wonders of Oman to the discerning Indian audiences, who are looking for short haul experiential holidays.

    As a part of the campaign, the Ministry has also launched the “Once Upon a Time in Oman” contest, where select lucky winners get a chance to experience Oman first hand. The bumper prize for the contest includes 02 Business Class air tickets on Oman Air, 03 nights/04 days stay at the luxurious Shangri La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa and local sightseeing by Tour Oman in Muscat. The contest can be participated through “Oman Tourism India/ face book page” and through a leading radio channel, “Radio City” in select cities. Incidentally, much of the Oman portion of the film has been shot at the Shangri La.

    Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and directed by Milan Luthria, “Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara” was shot partly in Oman and stars, “Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonali Bendre Behl,” which will be released on Thursday, 15th August 2013.

    Talking about reasons for choosing Oman, director Mr. Milan Luthria said, “Oman has modern cityscapes along with old world charm and opulence, which we felt suited our requirements perfectly. Oman also offers a lot of stunning unexplored and diverse landscapes, very attractive from a director’s perspective.”

    Ms. Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Sultanate of Oman said, “Through this association, we want to create good brand visibility for Oman and build awareness about the destination. We want Indians to recall Oman as an emerging leisure destination and a ‘must-see’ for all those who are seeking an authentic Arabian experience. We have received an overwhelming response to the online contest with over 1000 entries already, which clearly indicates that Indians are keen to visit an unexplored destination like Oman.”
