  • Oxford of the East’ Pune witnesses International level ‘Knowledge Globalisation Conference 2012’ ignite at FLAME

    Renowned Educational hub‘Pune’ boasts of some of the best educational institutes in the country. This time the tinsel town observed think tanks from Suffolk University, Harvard Business School, IIM – Ahmedabad and Corporate Houses like IBM, Zydus Cadillac and Dr. Reddy Laboratories converse about knowledge optimisation for sectors; Healthcare, Infrastructure, Human Development, Education in developing countries versus developed countries. The event took off at FLAME campus on 5th January, 2012 with the first session inaugurated by Dr.Jamshed Bharucha, President, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Scienceand Art, NY as the Chief Guest andMr. T V Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education Services P Ltd, as the Keynote Speaker. The Knowledge Globalization Conference 2012 (KGC 2012) will conclude on 7th January, 2012 at the site of it’s IndianHost ‘FLAME’, a new age Educational Institution for Liberal Education ,Business, Communication Studies and Performing Arts, Pune.

    The Symposium brought together Researchers and Practitioners from across the globe. The key objective of the forum was to discuss contemporary issues in Knowledge Globalization that influence Business, Education, Government, Society, and the Economy.

    The theme of the KGC 2012 was ‘Managing Challenges of Emerging Economies’.The conference goal was to confer the challenges and opportunities faced by emerging economies by sharing knowledge among developed and developing countries. Knowledge globalization encourages initiatives that participate, provide, and promote the process of knowledge sharing to benefit economic and social development for countries in continents like Asia andEurope.The Conference is being supported by IBM,SINTEX & Zydus.

    Commenting about the symposiumProf. Indira J Parikh, Founding President, FLAME, said,“The Indian youth are the largest in number in the youngest country inage. They are bubbling with energy,ready to create, build and shape the new world. Creating a learning environment for such a generation is indeed achallenge and FLAME has designed a unique curriculum to address this realitytoday and tomorrow.     In the year 2004, the foundation for India’s first school forliberal education was laid by the founders – Mr. Parag Shah, (Former Founder Chairman) and Mr. Nemish Shah(Founder Director). The Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME)has 4 schools – the FLAME School of Business,the FLAME Schoolof Communication,the FLAME Schoolof Liberal Education and the FLAME School of Performing Arts– all of which are residential courses. The academic pedagogy at FLAME isa melange of theoretical knowledge and hands-on projects. Students make choicesto choose from multiciplicity of courses offered and there is no limit to howmuch one can learn here. The President of the Foundation,Prof.Indira J. Parikh(Former Dean,IIMAhmedabad) brings with her anexperience of over four decades. Sports are an essential part of thecurriculum and students are provided with an array of facilities to pursue anysport of their choice. FLAME is in its 5th year and has currently500 students on campus.
